Below is some advice to help you prepare your CV and for your interview.
For your CV
- Our job advertisement will always be clear about the skills we are seeking and the responsibilities involved. It's worth taking the time to customise your CV to highlight how you fulfil the requirements
- Check for spelling and grammar mistakes. It can help to have someone read over your CV before submitting it.
- Include a personal statement or brief summary of your career and what you hope to achieve in the future. It helps the hiring team understand your motivations and career path.
- Mention your achievements in each role and showcase what you've learned. Include any qualifications or skills, but you don't need to add photos or personal information.
For your interview
- We'd encourage you to review the job description ahead of your interview; it will help you demonstrate your understanding of what the role entails
- It can help to prepare examples that demonstrate how you match the skills. This will help the manager understand how you'll perform in the role. Think about which skills you're good at and which ones you want to develop.
- We'll be really interested in learning more about why you've applied to join us. The interview will allow you to share your enthusiasm and motivation with your new potential manager.
- Consider any issues you have resolved in a past position and how you might use those skills in this one. If you join us, we'd love to hear any suggestions or fresh ideas you can bring to the table.
What to expect from recruitment
We want you to be able to showcase your skills and talents during our recruitment process. Therefore, knowing what to expect and how to prepare can be helpful.
The different approaches we use to get to know a little more about you are:
Online interviews
These are normally held over Zoom, similar to a competency-based interview, but done remotely.
TIP: Make sure you have a steady internet connection and are in a quiet place during your interview. Ensure sufficient light and blur your background if it is too distracting.
Pre-recorded video interviews
You will be invited to record yourself answering pre-set questions.
TIP: Prepare bullet points for each question, but don't rehearse your answers. Treat it like a regular interview, and show your enthusiasm for the role as you answer.
In-person interviews
This will be held at one of our offices or labs. It gives you an opportunity to see your potential workplace and for us to get to know you.
TIP: Check the location and your commute beforehand so you arrive on time for your interview. Be sure you're dressed to impress and this will boost your confidence
Skills based assessment
Skills based assessment
This can be written exercises, field-based tasks, or presentations.
Tip: Understand what skill the assessment is testing and how to best demonstrate this. Take your time and make good use of the knowledge you already have. Don't rush through.
