As well as treating and supplying water to 2.3 million customers through 9000 miles of pipes, protecting the environment that we work in and abstract water from is a large part of our biodiversity ethos to protect all species.
This is why we work with groups, farmers and organisations within our supply region to make sure we're giving back to where we take from.
The Project
Water vole numbers have declined quickly since 1990; Wild Cookham has worked hard to breed future generations of water voles.
They also prepared part of the river Thames near Cookham for their release to ensure they can thrive in their new home.
This project was part-funded by South East Water and Thames Water.
The water voles were released into the River Thames near Cookham successfully on Tuesday 21 June and are settling in nicely.
