Why We're Investing in Canterbury
We're constantly working to improve and maintain our water network to ensure you have a reliable supply of top-quality drinking water for years to come. The work we're planning for Canterbury is a crucial part of this commitment.
After submitting our most ambitious business plan ever(opens in a new tab) in 2024, we’re looking to invest significantly to improve our network in and around the city. We are aiming not only to reduce the amount of bursts and leaks on our pipes, but this vital work will also secure a resilient water supply for the area’s growing population, ensuring we can continue to deliver a high-quality service for future generations.

This work doesn’t include the new, major, Broad Oak Reservoir(opens in a new tab) project Which is expected to be supplying water by 2035. It’s a big project that will help secure water supplies for the whole area for years to come.
We'll do everything we can to minimise disruption to your daily life. For each project, you can expect us to provide details on:
- Project overview: A clear explanation of what we're doing and why.
- Timeline: The planned start date and duration of the work.
- Impact on your supply: Information on any planned interruptions to your water supply, including how long they will last and what you need to do to prepare. We'll always give you advance notice.
- Road closures and traffic management: Details on any road closures, diversions, or temporary traffic lights that might be in place. We'll work closely with local authorities to keep traffic moving as smoothly as possible.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we carry out this essential work.
