We're replacing more than 1.5 kilometres of ageing, unreliable water main in the area to reduce the amount of water lost through bursts on this section of pipework.
Key facts:
Location: Frith Road, Dicksons Bourne
Work: Replacing 1.5km of water main
Starts: Monday 24 November
Duration: Approx. three months
Investment: Approx. £500,000
When will work start, and how long will it take?
We’ll be starting work in Frith Road on Monday 24 November which will take around 2 weeks before the project starts going down Dicksons Bourne.
We expect the work to take approximately three months. We’ll do our best to get the work done faster if we can.
Will there be roadworks?
Traffic lights will be installed on Frith Road as we begin work there for two weeks, with a road closure in place on Dicksons Bourne before we move fully into that road.
We'll then implement a rolling road closure which will move as our team progresses down Dicksons Bourne. This means anyone accessing their property on the working route may need to approach from a different direction to normal, and this may change as work moves along the road.
After we approach the junctions with Mill Road and Mill Lane, the rolling road closure will be moved into these roads to continue the installation of the vital mains pipes in these areas.
This webpage will be updated as work progresses.
We do all we can to minimise disruption to the community when laying new water mains and always look to install pipes in locations which will cause the least disruption, such as grass verges and when in a road, as close to the verge as possible.
In the case of Dicksons Bourne, residents and businesses will still be able to access their property, but our team may have to make the working area safe to cross. This may mean waiting while the team does this.
We’ll be working in stages along the road, and the majority will be using a rolling road closure.
This means the direction you enter your property may not be your usual route, or may change as we move along the road. The diversion route will be signposted for the duration of the work and will be available on this webpage.
As with all our roadworks, we always maintain access for emergency services. Emergency services are briefed well in advance. Our team will work as quickly as possible to make working areas safe for emergency vehicles to cross.
As the work will require connections to the existing network, there will be a short interruption in supply. We will notify you in advance when this is due to happen if you are impacted by this.
