After eight bursts in your area in recent years, we’re planning a project to replace more than 100 metres of ageing, burst-prone pipe in Salisbury Road and Green Lane. This will strengthen the network, make your water supply more reliable, and reduce the amount of water lost to burst pipes in Kent.
Key facts
Location: Salisbury Road and Green Lane
Length of replacement: 120m
Work: Replacing 120 meters of water main.
Starts: Monday, 9 March 2026
Duration: Approximately seven weeks
When will work start, and how long will it take?
Starting on Monday, 9 March 2026 we will install traffic lights at the junction of Saddleton Road and Salisbury Road. We shall be drilling north along Salisbury Road as we replace the pipes and then we will move our work into Green Lane to finish the project.
We expect the work to take around seven weeks.
Road closure and traffic lights
Will there be roadworks?
In order to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and our team carrying out the work, two-way traffic lights will be in place in Salisbury Road and Green Lane as part of this project.
We expect the traffic lights to be in place at the junction of Saddleton Road and Salisbury Road from the start of the project and to remain there until Monday, 30 March.
We will then move on to Salisbury Lane first and then into Green Lane, with road closures in place in each of these while work is ongoing.
Full updates on the closures and updates on the project will be available on this page as the work progresses.
Frequently asked questions
We do all we can to minimise disruption to the community when laying new water mains and always look to install pipes in locations which will cause the least disruption, such as grass verges and when in a road, as close to the verge as possible.
In the case of Salisbury Road and Green Lane, residents and businesses will still be able to access their properties.
However, residents may have to wait occasionally if we’re working directly outside the entrance to their property just while our team makes the area safe to get by. The direction vehicles enter from may not be the usual route or it may change as we move along the road.
As with all our roadworks, we always maintain access for emergency services. Emergency services are briefed well in advance. Our team will work as quickly as possible to make working areas safe for emergency vehicles to cross.
Bin collections and postal deliveries will still be able to access properties for the duration of our work. We advise of these services of our works and it is up to these providers to ensure that their services can continue during our works. Our on-site team will work with providers.
As the work will require connections to the existing network, there will be a short interruption in supply. We will notify you in advance when this is due to happen if you are impacted by this.
