We’ll soon be replacing around 1.2 kilometres of burst-prone water pipes in Filmorehill Lane, Privett.
The water pipes in the Privett area have burst eight times in the last five years. This has meant low water pressure and sometimes no water for some of our customers.
We’re sorry this has happened – it’s not acceptable. We’re always working to reduce the number of leaks and bursts we have. With this in mind, we’re going to be making some improvements to the water network in your community.
What’s going to happen and when?
We’re going to replace around 1.2 kilometres of water pipes in Filmorehill Lane, Privett.
We’ll be starting work on Monday, 20 October, 2025. Our teams will work weekdays and some Saturday mornings. We may also work on some Sundays.
We expect the work to take approximately four months. We’ll do our best to get the work done faster if we can.
How will this affect customers?
We’re sorry for the disruption this work is going to cause – we know it’s inconvenient. We’ll do our absolute best to keep it to a minimum.
We’ll be working along Filmorehill Lane. This means we’ll need to close the road between the junction with Church Road, Hempland Lane and Fawley Lane, to the A32 at the other end of Filmorehill Lane. We’ll only work on sections of the road at a time, so you will still be able to get to and from your property wherever we’re working.
Getting to and from properties
Customers will be able to get to and from their home or business during this work, but may have to wait occasionally if we’re working directly outside the entrance to their property. This is just while our team makes the area safe for them to get by.
The direction customers enter from may not be their usual route or it may change as we move along the road, depending on the diversion.
Diversion route
While the road closure is in place on Filmorehill Lane, diversion routes will be in operation.
There will be one to the north of Filmorehill Lane, which will be via the A32 Gosport Road and Fawley Lane.
A diversion will also be in place to the south of Filmorehill Lane, via Stocks Lane, the A272 (Winchester Road/Petersfield Road) and the A32 Gosport Road.
Water supply
We may need to turn the water off for a short time when we connect our new pipes to the existing network. We’ll let customers know if this is going to happen at least 48 hours beforehand, so they can plan ahead.
What if customers need extra support?
If any customers are likely to need any extra support during the work, they can join our Priority Services Register.
We have all sorts of services to help if needed. For example, if anyone is struggling financially, has an illness or disability or is looking after a child under five.
