Cash boost for Kent kidney patient group

A charity which offers support and advice for kidney patients has received a £5,000 donation from South East Water.

The cash will help Kent Kidney Patients Association (KKPA) with its vital work to care for the welfare of kidney disease sufferers and their families across the county.

All its volunteers are receiving treatment themselves or care for those who do, often on a long term basis.

The charity supports the renal units at Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Maidstone, Margate and Medway Hospitals.

Andy Clowes, South East Water’s Head of Customer Experience and Strategy said: “We are very pleased to be able to give some funding to support the great work KKPA and its volunteers do every day.

“We have been working with KKPA for some time as part of our commitment to help our customers who may need extra support.

“Kidney issues, including the need for dialysis, can be closely related to additional water use, so we are very aware this is an area we can focus on to provide help where needed to our customers. There are many ways we can do this including offering special tariffs and with our Priority Services Register which is quick and free to sign up to.

Lu Molina, Chairman of KKPA said: “South East Water is our guardian angel.

“If it wasn't for its support when we needed it most, some of our services would have been significantly reduced affecting a lot of kidney patients this winter.

We cannot thank South East Water enough."
