A vital project to increase the capacity of the water network around a Surrey village is now complete.
South East Water pumped more than £350,000 into a new pipeline which now runs through Elstead.
The new pipe will allow the company to pump more water to the area and maintain pressure as the local community grows.
Jeremy Dufour, South East Water Project Manager, said: “This is another significant investment into protecting and enhancing our network.
“With the local community set to expand, in time residents would have noticed a drop in pressure or even no water whencarrying out normal every day activities like taking a shower or making a cup of tea.
“With the new pipe in place, customers should not notice any difference to their normal supply even as the population increases.”
South East Water laid more than 700 metres of pipe in Milford Road and just under 300 metres of water main in Thursley Road.
Temporary traffic lights were used to keep the community safe from the working area but these have now been removed.
Jeremy added: “We’re so sorry for any disruption caused by our traffic management but I know the community will feel the benefit in the long run.
“Thank you for your continued patience while we completed this vital project.”
The work forms part of South East Water’s pledge to invest £433 million into improving its water network between 2020 and 2025.
