Gardeners can grab a bargain with a water butt offer from South East Water
Gardeners can grab a bargain-priced water butt to capture those April showers, thanks to South East Water. The company is offering 100-litre rainwater collectors for just £17.49 - cheaper than most other retailers.
The company, which supplies drinking water to areas in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, is offering discounts on a range of water butts for a limited time only, as well as a chance to win one in its March draw.
As average rainfall in the South East can fill each butt over 400 times a year, the water can be used for a variety of jobs in addition to keeping thirsty plants alive during warmer weather.
Just one average water butt holds enough rainwater to fill a watering can 25 times and plants much prefer rain water as it’s full of nutrients.
Along with washing cars, it can also be used to fill ponds, clean gutters of winter debris or wash down garden furniture and patios. It’s great for the environment too, as not using drinking water on your garden keeps more water in the rivers and lakes for nature.
Michelle Marvell, South East Water’s Water Efficiency Manager, said: “By installing a water butt in the spring to capture and reuse rainwater in the garden during the drier summer months, we can all help to conserve water and protect the environment.
“Making small changes to our everyday routines can make a big difference not just to how much water is used but also the cost of household bills too.”
