Residents of Laughton, East Sussex benefit from new water main
Work to install 360 metres of new water main in Laughton and Shortgate, Lewes has now been completed by South East Water.
The new water main will secure the top-quality drinking water supplies to the community for years to come.
The project started in May this year along Terrible Down Road and completed on schedule on 25 June.
Including the 360 metres laid in Terrible Down Road, a total of 2.7km of new main has been installed since 2019 totalling £800,000.
Jeremy Dufour, Project Manager for South East Water said: “We’re really pleased we have delivered this project on schedule.
“This new pipeline will reduce the likelihood of bursts in the area, which can result in interruptions to customers’ drinking water supplies as well as disruptive emergency repairs.
“I’d like to thank the local community and motorists for their patience and understanding while we carried out this essential work.”
This project formed part of the company’s £433 million investment programme between 2020 and 2025.
