Water company returns to Crowborough to complete pipework upgrade

South East Water will be working in Walshes Road in this month to install 200 metres of new water main as part of a £515,000 investment in Crowborough, East Sussex.

The company will start work on 26 July and is expected to take approximately 12 weeks to complete.

Replacing the old pipelines will improve the resilience of the water network in the area, reducing the risk of bursts and disruptive emergency repairs.

In order to maintain the safety of pedestrians, motorists and its workforce, the company will close Walshes Road for the duration of the work.

To minimise disruption, Walshes Road will be closed in three phases, starting with a closure between Stone Cross Road and Walshes Road to the junction at Kingfisher Drive.

The second phase of the road closure will be between Kingfisher Drive and Nightingales and the final phase closing the road between Nightingales and Luxford Road.

Jeremy Dufour, Project Manager for South East Water said: “It is crucial we install the new pipework in Walshes Road and secure the top-quality drinking water supply to local residents now and into the future.

“To reduce the duration of the project we will be working extended hours each day from Monday to Saturday throughout.

“Access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout.”

This work follows on from a project to install 500 metres of new pipework in Walshes Road and Stonecross Road in 2019.

This scheme forms part of the company’s £433 million investment programme between 2020 and 2025.
