Water mains replacement completed in Filmorehill Lane, Privett

10th February 2026

Work has now been completed on South East Water’s project to replace 1.2 kilometres of water mains in the Privett area.

The drinking water supplier has invested around £380,000 to replace burst-prone water pipes in Filmorehill Lane.

Work started on Monday, 20 October, 2025 and was completed last week, with Filmorehill Lane re-opened on Friday, 6 February, 2026 following a road closure and diversion that was in place during the work.

South East Water Project Manager, Jeremy Dufour, said: “This was an important project for us to upgrade our network.

“The water pipes in this area had burst eight times in the last five years, which has meant low pressure and at times, no water for our customers.

“This is not acceptable to us and we’re sorry to our customers who have been affected by this. We’re always working to reduce the number of leaks and bursts and by carrying out this work, we have now strengthened our network and increased resilience in the area.

“As with any work like this, we know there has been some disruption for residents and businesses locally. We apologise for this and we thank customers and businesses in the area for their patience and understanding while we completed this important project.”
