Wokingham pipeline upgrade completes
A £600,000 water pipe has been laid in the heart of Wokingham, Berkshire, to futureproof tap water supplies.
Installed by fresh drinking water supplier South East Water, the new pipe runs along Keephatch Road, Warren House Road and Binfield Road.
The population of the area is set to increase in the coming years, meaning customers would experience either low water pressure or no water.
However, residents can now rest assured they will continue to receive a steady supply of top-quality drinking water.
Jeremy Dufour, Project Manager, said: “This was a very important project to strengthen the capacity of the water network, meaning we can draw more water to the area as demand increases over time.
“We are really sorry to the local community for any disruption our works may have caused since they started in June 2022.”
A series of traffic management measures, including road closures, have been in place in June to protect South East Water’s construction team and the general public.
Jeremy continued: “Road closures are always a last resort but health and safety is always our number one priority.
“I am very grateful to the local community for their continued patience during our vital upgrade project.”
