Work to improve water pressure in Faversham starts in April
A project to upgrade the drinking water supply network in Faversham to improve and maintain water pressure is due to begin in April.
The project by fresh water supplier South East Water will begin on Friday 11 April, 2025, outside the fire station on the A251, Ashford Road. A new pipeline will be installed to maintain a reliable water supply and prevent pressure from dropping as the community grows.
A road closure will be in place for the first week of the project (11th to the 17th April) as we work in the road outside the fire station.
The work then moves onto private land in the entrance to the fire station for the remainder of the project and requires no traffic management.
Jeremy Dufour, Project Manager at South East Water, said: “As more homes are built, it’s important we upgrade our network so water pressure remains at a good level for everyone. We are carrying out these works to make sure there is no drop off in the quality of our water supply as the local population grows.
"We’ll be installing pipework outside the fire station to improve supply in the area.
"We know road closures can be disruptive, and we’ll be working as quickly and safely as possible to get the job done. Most work will take place during normal hours, but the team will work for extended hours in the evenings and at weekends during the week long road closure.”
