If there is a water supply interruption in your area, we know everyone is affected. We want to ensure that all our customers are supported, including those with livestock.
We’ve set up a new way to help those customers with livestock if there is a water supply interruption in your area.
This scheme has been set up to specifically help those customers who keep livestock on a non-commercial basis.
We understand that you will rely on a continuous water supply for both you and your livestock, so we’ve created a new way to support you.
A separate scheme is already up and running for commercial livestock operators.
What is happening
We understand that there are several challenges in keeping livestock hydrated during a supply interruption, so we’ve created answers to the two biggest problems: holding enough water at your location and keeping that water topped up.
We will set up an agreement with you to lend you storage capacity. That storage may take the form of a tank or number of tanks and depends on your specific needs.
The storage will be your responsibility, which will be detailed in the agreement. We’ve got a number of different storage solutions and will work with you to find the right solution for your location.
Initially, the tank (s) will be filled up from your mains water supply, and that stored water will be held until needed.
If there is a water supply interruption in your area, we would expect you to use this stored water in the first instance. During the interruption, we will visit affected locations frequently with a water tanker and refill your supplies. We will continue to do this until the mains supply is reinstated in your area.
